How to check if your remote is broken
Garage remotes are built to withstand regular use, but over time they may stop functioning due to wear, environmental exposure, or internal faults. CXI uses robust hardware, but if your remote isn’t working, here are the most common causes and how to resolve them before talking to your Strata Manager (because they’re already busy so let’s help them out and try these options first)🙂:
🔋 1. Battery Depletion
The most frequent issue is a flat battery. Always start by replacing it to ensure the remote has sufficient power.
Quick Test (some remotes): Press one or both buttons. If a red light flashes or stays on for ~30 seconds, the remote has some power—but it may not be strong enough to transmit reliably from inside your vehicle.
Better Test (all remotes): Stand at the top of your driveway (Out of the way of cars and traffic, always be safety conscious), press your remote and if the door doesn’t open, take 2-3 steps towards your garage door and repeat. The closer you get to your roller door before it opens indicates how much battery is left, if too close to the door then change the battery.

💧2. Moisture Exposure
Moisture can interfere with internal components. If your remote has been exposed to water:
Place it in a bowl of dry rice overnight to help draw out moisture.
When replacing the battery, inspect the circuit board for corrosion—look for white deposits or reddish rust on metal parts.
🧱 3. Physical Damage
If the remote casing is cracked or visibly damaged, the internal circuit board may be broken or may be corroded from moisture ingress. Unfortunately, this type of damage is not repairable and requires a full replacement.
✅ What to Do Next
Start with a battery replacement.
