Can clients install their own security products instead of a technician?
We get asked by clients all the time regarding their ability to replace parts themselves, this is not something that we can allow due to the following reasons:
Warranty - Who shall assume responsibility for for the warranty of the product moving forward?
Licensing - Security products must be installed by a licensed technician
Certification - the product will not be supported if the manufacturer finds out an uncertified person was working on the products
Safety - the uncertified person wouldn't have public liability or any other insurances in case something happened either to them, another person while they were working on the product or if the product failed later and hurt someone.
Comment below if you have any other reasons why that I haven’t listed here but generally while I agree with trying to save money upfront because everything is expensive these days, with electronic access control systems and CCTV - only costs you more in the end.
